Our program is designed to provide medical professionals the opportunity to train in a safe, controlled and realistic atmosphere with non-judgmental feedback.
The Standardized Patient Program manages all standardized patient participants in educational, research and/or assessment activities for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple and Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.
Standardized patients (SP) are individuals who have been coached to consistently and accurately portray an actual medical condition or disease, including a patient's history, physical findings, personality and/or behavior.
Standardized patients are utilized in training activities for medical students, residents, nurses and allied health professionals.
Potential uses of standardized patients for learning experiences include, but are not limited to:- Supervised practice and training
- Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs)
- Demonstrations
- Hybrid simulations with low and high-fidelity manikins
- Remediation training
- Training videos
