Recruiting Organization: St. Mark Community Education Program, Dorchester

St. Mark Community Education Program is a non-profit organization that helps immigrants in the Boston area and beyond to learn English as a second language and help them study and obtain their US citizenship. The mission of St. Mark is to facilitate the building of an integrated community where immigrants can flourish and enrich their communities.

We are looking for a Conversation group coordinator to assist the director in managing and expanding the Conversation Group program.

The coordinator will:

 Work with Ashley, our volunteer coordinator, to recruit and train conversation leaders.

 Monitor groups

 Regularly communicate with leaders

 Compile conversation group resources

 Assist director in recruiting new participants

Commitment 1-2 hours per week -remotely

About the program

Conversation groups meet weekly for 1 ½ hours /week. We currently run several online throughout the week and two in person Saturday morning programs in Dorchester. The groups give non English speakers with with a moderate level of English the opportunity to improve their English, increase their vocabulary, learn American idioms, slang, and colloquialisms, as well as meet and learn about people from other countries.
