ORGANIZATION: Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum

Description of Role: The Volunteer Grant Researcher will help to explore new grant funding opportunities by conducting research on potential foundation and government funding sources. Researchers also assist the Grants Coordinator by discovering untapped sources of funding for future research.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on provided foundations and government grant sources
  • Explore new grants opportunities for the team to research

Skills/Qualifications Required: proficient research skills required; have good vision and hearing; ability to work at a desk for long periods of time; ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desired Experience: Grants or fundraising experience preferred; past research experience required.

Time Commitment: 2 -4 hours between hours of 9am - 4pm M-F one day per week.

Comprised of the oldest and most comprehensive collection of railroad history in the Western Hemisphere, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum, Inc. is a unique cultural and educational asset for the city and the region. An unparalleled roster of the 19th and 20th century railroad equipment, original shop buildings, and surviving tracks at the historic Mt. Clare site provide an integrated resource to present virtually every aspect of American railroad development and its impact on our society, culture and economy.
