IMPACT
One of the most powerful ways you can help our participants transition out of homelessness is to give them opportunities for healthy social interaction. It may seem like you're just playing checkers, but you're helping someone practice their communication skills and heal their interpersonal relationships.
VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSILBITIES
Come ready to play games, engage in friendly conversation, and serve refreshments to people transitioning out of homelessness.
REQUIREMENTS
Must first attend our required (but awesome) Volunteer Training
Must show proof of vaccination and wear a mask
Must be over 18

Mission Statement
L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. Founded in 1983, LAFH served more than 2,500 people living in poverty this past year through its multiple housing and supportive service programs, and has served over 100,000 people since its inception. In total LAFH owns and operates 21 properties, including three homeless shelters and 18 permanent rental properties. LAFH provides temporary housing, including the Sydney Irmas Transitional Living Center, for families who require additional time for achieving sufficient independence to secure permanent housing. These transitional living programs offer: * Six Months to Two Years of Transitional Housing * Food Services * Case Management * Mandatory Savings Program * Full Range of On-Site Supportive Services
