Ability to connect with others, playing games, making puzzles, and working to be sure that we are building a friendship. We do not provide physical care to patients, but our patients may be bedbound, or the volunteer would visit with the spouse or other family members. We are they for companionship and enjoyment only.
Volunteers work on their schedule, if it fits with the patient and family schedule. We requires at least on hour a month, and a commitment to that frequency for patient visits. There is no smoking while visiting the patients, and we want to make sure that you are feeling safe with your visit as well. This is the kindness of your heart, and you are not going to be "pushed" made to "feel obligated to visit." If you are not comfortable with the patient or family, I would expect you to communicate that with me, so we can get a different opportunity or fix the issue.
Please let me know if you are interested, I will email an application as well as then take you for coffee at Starbucks, close to your home. Again, this is your comfort zone, I want to make your opportunity pleasant and you feel like you are giving back to your community.
