Habitat for Humanity of Dane County is looking for a Woodshop Volunteer!

This position supports Habitat's mission of providing affordable housing by creating and assembling components for future affordable housing units.

Responsibilities: Manage the layout and assembly of plates, headers, and other house framing components. Assemble door casings. Other carpentry tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a woodshop.
• Basic knowledge of woodworking and woodworking equipment.
• Knowledge of woodworking/woodshop safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds.
• Proficiency operating a variety of hand and power tools.
• Math skills and experience accurately measuring materials to be cut.
• Ability to work precisely with attention to detail.

Time Commitment: Tuesday mornings from 8am-11:30am required initially for training; will be flexible after training is complete. This position is urgently needed now through summer 2023 but can continue after that time if desired.

Training provided: Hands-on training provided by a current woodshop volunteer and Construction staff (Tuesday mornings)
