Literacy Pittsburgh:

Literacy Pittsburgh is the largest adult literacy organization in the state. We serve two types of students: students who want to increase their reading, writing, or math skills and students who are English Language Learners. We serve our students in two ways: through classroom instruction or through our tutoring program.

Description:
We are seeking a classroom aide to work in our classroom instruction program. This person will provide support to a full-time instructor in a classroom with adult learners working to brush up on their math skills. Math students are typically performing at a 3rd-6th grade level - minimal algebra & no geometry, trigonometry, or calculus. The aide will assist students entering training programs in fields such as medical assistance, culinary, medical billing and coding, and horticulture.

This is a hybrid model class, so the classroom aide will be assisting with tech and helping in breakout rooms.

Days/Times:
Tuesdays and Thursdays (start date whenever it is convenient to you) from 11:30-1:30.

Qualifications:
No teaching experience necessary.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to break down concepts step-by-step a plus!
Prior experience working with a diverse set of adults is a plus.
Experience with Zoom a plus.

Literacy Pittsburgh’s regional neighborhood offices, Beaver County office, and Pittsburgh Downtown Center make learning and volunteering convenient.
