ORGANIZATION: Senior Neighbors

  • 5 people are interested

We are seeking people who are interested in working with older adults to address fall prevention. We know that one out of three older adults fall each year and 60% of older adults are fearful of falling. Falls are life changing and lead to decreased mobility, loss of independence, and additional health challenges. Our volunteers will be trained in how to provide the program, A Matter of Balance, which is an 8 week workshop that helps participants learn how to manage their fear of falling. Training for this program is offered in 2 training days to volunteers and they would then be asked to volunteer to teach the 8 week program to older adults. More information provided upon request.
