Recruiting Organization: Her Village Inc.

Her Village Inc. is looking for committed board members to serve on our board of directors. Your responsibilities include advising on strategic plans, participating in fundraising, governance work, and monitoring our financial affairs.


Board Member Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be connected to and care about the overall well-being of low-income mothers and children, especially BIPOC inner-city mothers and children.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings. Commit to at least 2 hours of advancing our mission per week.
  • Contribute annually through fundraising, individual funds, and personal networks. Board members are expected to raise and/or donate a minimum of $10,000 annually. Any donation through your network counts towards this goal.
  • Must be comfortable fundraising and participating in the organization's fundraising plan.
  • For Non-BIPOC: Must be committed to the work of anti-racism and denouncing white supremacy.
  • Share Her Village Inc.'s mission, vision, and goals to raise awareness of Her Village Inc, diaper need, and period poverty.

We have continued to provide a safe space and tangible resources for over 3,000 families since 2020. We believe it takes a village to raise a child and support a mama. Join us in BEING the village in action for vulnerable families across all five boroughs.

This application process has five parts:

1) Email hello@wearehervillage.org sharing your resume and expressing your interest.

2) Qualified applicants will be contacted to complete a formal board member application.

3) Attend in-person Board Interest Meeting NYC

4) Interview with Her Village Inc. Executive Director and one current board member.

5) Board decisions will be made. If chosen, a formal invitation will be extended.


Prior experience working with a board is not required as we provide board training.

BIPOC individuals and mothers are especially encouraged to apply.
