We need SAF Caseworkers throughout South Central Southeast Oklahoma. Counties are listed below:

Description of Position:

The American Red Cross' Service to the Armed Forces Caseworker, serves military members and their families worldwide, 365 days a year, 7 days a week. Caseworkers provide emergency assistance both online and by phone. By collecting and verifying accurate information, we can assist military commands in making decisions for emergency leave and serve as an overall resource for veterans and their families. We also provide current military members and military retirees access to emergency and routine financial assistance in situations and circumstances where they qualify.

There are two different caseworker positions available: 1) Caseworker - Family Contact Card & 2) Caseworker - Family Follow-up

Caseworker - Family Contact Card

Responsibilities:

* Ensure family information is in the case management system

* Email and phone military families to provide Red Cross preparedness information

* Provide additional support, as appropriate

* Maintain strict confidentiality of any case notes, and private personal information in accordance with Red Cross policies

* Maintain professionalism and conduct as stated in Red Cross policy

Qualifications:

* Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer to include phone, personal computer, and reliable internet connection

* Demonstrated ability to treat people with respect under all circumstances and instill trust in others while upholding the values and principles of the American Red Cross

* Good computer skills to include use of Internet search tools; Internet; and Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook, word-processing

* Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills

* Able to work with diverse populations

Time Commitment:

* Flexible with a scheduled commitment

* 4 hours per week minimum (16 hours per month)

* Two shifts of two hours in length each

* Shifts can be worked back-to-back at different times of the day or on different days

* Shifts available 9am CST to 7pm CST, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

Caseworker - Family Follow-Up

Responsibilities:

* Maintain strict confidentiality of any case notes, and private personal information in accordance with Red Cross policies.

* Support emergency communications, financial assistance, and provide additional services as needed. The follow-up process includes making follow-up calls to families and/or military members or others to determine if their needs are met and provide other follow-up actions needed for complete and timely client services.

* Provide appropriate service to clients which could include referrals within the organization and to other agencies.

* Maintain professionalism and conduct as stated in Red Cross policy.

* Maintain current casework required training.

Qualifications:

* Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer to include phone, personal computer, and a reliable internet connection.

* Must have good customer service and problem-solving skills.

* Demonstrated ability to treat people with respect under all circumstances and instill trust in others while upholding the values and principles of the American Red Cross.

* Ability to apply active listening skills, empath, compassion and employ reasoning and questioning strategies to capture, analyze, and interpret information from clients, staff, and management.

* Good computer skills to include use of Internet search tools; Internet; and Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook, work-processing.

* Effective interviewing skills and a sound knowledge of telephone and in-person etiquette and pleasant and friendly manners respectful of human dignity

* Ability to work with or without supervision and with a team

* Effective verbal and written communication skills

* Able to work with culturally diverse populations
