ORGANIZATION: South County Outreach

South County Outreach is dedicated to preventing hunger and homelessness by helping people help themselves. The Upscale Resale Thrift Store's proceeds help support our mission of ending hunger and homelessness in Orange County. We couldn’t achieve this mission without the continuous support and dedication of volunteers.

Help support our thrift store by picking up and dropping off donations from the dry cleaner to the thrift store locations for pricing and tagging.

Time Commitment:

We are currently looking for a few weekly, ongoing volunteers that can commit to 1-2 hours/week. The schedule can be flexible and hours would vary depending on the pickup schedule.

Requirements:
- Must provide copy of driver's license, driver's insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Must drive own vehicle.

Mission Statement

South County Outreach is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing hunger and homelessness in Orange County by helping people in need help themselves.

Description

South County Outreach (SCO), founded in 1989, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing homeless prevention services to low-income individuals and families in crisis in South Orange County.

Through a variety of programs, South County Outreach gives families in need the help they need and the tools to become self-sufficient. Our Food Pantry distributes nearly one million pounds of emergency, non-perishable and fresh food to an average of 9,000 families annually. Our housing programs provide subsidized housing and professional case management services to local families who are homeless or on the verge of being homeless. Our Computer Learning Lab teaches more than 600 students annually who are unemployed and underemployed to improve their skills and increase job opportunities.

We are a volunteer-based organization with over 250 regularly scheduled volunteers and 1,500 occasional volunteers that help throughout the year.
