We are recruiting for volunteers to help on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday only!
Many positions available:
- Suggest and run an activity like Bingo or Arts & Crafts. We are open to suggestions too!
- Serve lunch to seniors at the Friendship Center by carrying trays to tables.
- Visit with the seniors, talk about their interests etc....
- Prepare packaged meals to be delivered to seniors
- Assist in putting prepared food in tins or putting lids on the tins for the home delivered meals. Gloves must be worn and will be supplied by the center.
- Packing
- Assist packing coolers with putting hot plates and ice packs in delivery bags with dinner trays and lunch bags. Packing hot meals in bags.
- Clean up kitchen.
- Wash a few pans, put ice packs in the freezer and hot stones in the oven. Put the coolers and bags back on the shelves.
- Back-up Volunteers - would you be willing to be a back-up volunteer? We will call you to fill in if a volunteer is unable to make their day/time.
We ask all volunteers to commit to/select the "job(s)" and day(s) each month that they would like to volunteer so that the Director has a schedule.
The Friendship Center is open from 10:00am - 2:00pm and most volunteer positions are an hour or less. Of course we welcome our volunteers to stay and help longer with whatever is needed, if they like.

Description
Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County is the official anti-poverty agency of Dutchess County and has been serving the community for over 45 years. With four Community and Family Development centers, located in Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Red Hook and Dover Plains, the Agency offers a diverse array of services to county in the interest of empowering our clients and promoting greater economic self-reliance. Our dedicated Family Resource Coordinators help hundreds of families navigate economic challenges including access to our food panty, prescription assistance and home heating fuel. Our Weatherization program can retrofit eligible homes to save money on energy costs, and our RSVP program engages Seniors in community involvement. Our EITC program offers free income tax preparation and our Dress for Success program is here to help women who are attempting to re-enter the workforce. At Community Action, we believe that all people and families have strengths and assets, and the community as whole is healthiest when we all work together to help recognize and maximize those strengths.
