ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

This is a minimum 32-hours per week volunteer position. Housing is provided in the Chisos Basin employee housing area. The volunteer will be working with NPS employees under the law enforcement division.

During a normal duty day, volunteers will be asked to provide PSAR education to hikers along trails or at trailheads in the Chisos Basin. Volunteers may utilize park vehicles in order to facilitate their movement throughout the park. They may also operate a park radio, and report emergency incidents as they occur in their area of responsibility.


Volunteers who work outside must be identifiable to the public. Uniform consists of tan or brown pants/shorts and a khaki work shirt with VIP patch sewn on the left-hand sleeve. Volunteers may obtain volunteer work shirts and hats at the volunteer cache.
