Mission Statement

The volunteer Case Management Program is currently still in development and growing day-by-day. With your help, the program will allow clients to receive more individualized access to services provided through SMCC. While clients are guided by SMCC staff and service providers throughout their time at court, having case managers building connections with clients on a one-on-one basis will increase the likelihood of clients remaining on track to accomplish their goals. Through this program we hope to increase day-to-day communication with clients, offer consistent individualized guidance and encouragement, and grow our community partnership and outreach capacity.

Description

The Spokane Municipal Community Court (SMCC) is a therapeutic court established in 2013 aimed at connecting community members to organizations in the Spokane area to address root causes of low-level crime (namely lack of resources and poverty). The Court addresses these causes by providing resources to connect people living in poverty with options to help lift them out of poverty as well as aiming to increase public trust and confidence in the justice system.

SMCC connects clients to community resources to help them obtain needs such as housing, medical care, insurance, and much more. SMCC is not only open to those involved in the justice system, but also to the public at large. Clients are able to visit on Mondays to talk to service providers and the SMCC Team as they complete the community court program and/or seek services. Clients agree to participate in community court in order to improve their living conditions and avoid incarceration.
