Orientation is this Saturday 2/18/23 from 10am-12pm in the Escondido Library. Registration is now open! Go to www.tinyurl.com/sdrpvolunteer to sign up. Learn about our organization, the amazing Watershed Explorers Program for the Escondido community, and meet our staff, partner organizations and volunteers. We hope to see you there! If you have any questions please feel free to email us at Jess@sdrp.org or call at 858-674-2270 X 14.

Inspire the next generation of environmentalists by becoming an Interpretive Ranger Volunteer! No experience is required! You will work alongside industry experts and gain valuable experience. Travel with us to different locations along the San Dieguito River Watershed educating the explorers about the history, culture and biology of the destination. Locations include Volcan Mountain, Surprise Farm Retreat Center, San Diego Archaeology Center, Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead, Lake Hodges, and the Birdwing Open Air Classroom at San Dieguito Lagoon. Each location focuses on a different theme and will help explorers develop a deeper appreciation for the beauty and protection of our environment.

There are many benefits of becoming an Interpretive Ranger Volunteer! Earn internship credit for college if you're a student, add valuable experience to your resume, network with professionals, our partner organizations, and fellow nature-lovers, get outside in the 92,000 acre park, and make a real difference in our community!

About San Dieguito River Park

Location:

18372 Sycamore Creek Road, Escondido, CA 92025, US

Mission Statement

To preserve and restore land within the Focused Planning Area of the San Dieguito River Park as a regional open space greenway and park system that protects the natural waterways and the natural and cultural resources and sensitive lands and provides compatible recreational opportunities, including water related uses, that do not damage sensitive lands.

To provide a continuous and coordinated system of preserved lands with a connecting corridor of walking, equestrian, and bicycle trails, encompassing the San Dieguito River Valley from the ocean to the river's source.

Description

The San Dieguito River Park extends along a 55-mile corridor that begins at the river's source near Julian and reaches the ocean at the San Dieguito Lagoon. The vision of the River Park reaches out to the future with ideals of preservation and protection of the beautiful rural character of the San Dieguito River Valley. From the "Coast to Crest" trail system that will someday link trails and paths from Del Mar to Anza Borrego to the celebration and preservation of our local heritage and natural resources, the San Dieguito River Park is creating recreational and educational opportunities that interface gently with nature for all ages.
