We need your help! We're looking for positive role models to help make an impact in the lives of our LGBTQ+ youth!
Our goal is to provide a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult in the life of a community-residing youth. Our mentors engage in building a caring, nurturing relationship with their youths to help them develop character, social leadership skills, career interests and educational choices through social activities.
Why do we need your help? Research has shown....
LGBTQ+ youth and young adults experience mental health challenges at higher rates than the general population. Lack or family acceptance, bullying, and isolation all contribute to increased risk of anxiety, depression, and suicide.
What does a Mentor do?
Help your Mentee by doing some of the following with them: exploring post-secondary education, job shadowing/exploring career paths, participating in volunteer activities, have fun by engaging in various recreational activities, and just being someone who will listen to what they have to say.
What impact will you make?
Our desired outcomes for our LGBTQ+ youth include some of the following: increase in their knowledge/skills, guidance/direction in various aspects of their lives, improved interpersonal skills, enhancement of self-esteem & confidence, and increased opportunities for academic & career development.
