All are welcome to volunteer at Gaining Ground. We are a volunteer-driven organization that relies on the energy, talent, and enthusiasm of thousands of people. Because of your help, we can grow and donate nutritious, local, organic produce to people in need of fresh, healthy food. Our community of volunteers is broad-based, often including:
- Individuals ages 15 and up
- Families with children ages 5 and up
- Education groups: schools, colleges, alumni, homeschool coops
- Faith-based groups
- Community groups: scouts, camps, senior citizens, civic organizations
- Special needs groups
- Corporate teams
When you arrive, you walk out through the fields to our farm pavilion. You are welcomed and given an introduction to Gaining Ground and our hunger-relief role. Our farmers explain what’s going on at the farm and the tasks they’ve lined up, based on the the skills and abilities of that day’s volunteers. Then, you work alongside our staff -- planting, mulching, cultivating, harvesting, weeding, tarping, washing... At the end of your visit, our farm staff returns with you to the pavilion to share observations and experiences.
***Important: if you are interested in volunteering with us, please sign up directly at this link: https:// gainingground.org/volunteer/ sign-up-to-volunteer/. Thank you!***

Mission Statement
Gaining Ground's mission is to provide free, sustainably grown, fresh organic produce to people experiencing food insecurity. We do this with the helping hands of a diverse community of volunteers who work and learn with us on our farm. We envision a future where everyone has equitable access to healthy, sustainably grown produce.
Description
Gaining Ground is a 3 acre non-profit, no-till, organic farm in Concord, MA that grows fresh produce for 15 hunger relief organizations with the help of community volunteers. We donate 100% of the vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, maple syrup and honey that we grow. In the 2022 farming season we grew over 115,000 pounds of produce, supplying more than 1,200 food-insecure households each week in the Greater Boston region. We welcomed over 3,100 volunteers of all ages and abilities to the farm this past season. Come visit, meet our farmers, learn about our hunger relief work, and have fun on the farm!
