ORGANIZATION: COMMUNITY NURSING SERVICE

  • 1 person is interested

For families whose loved one is receiving hospice services, Community Nursing Services provides a unique memorial. At the bedside, volunteers create a cast of the patient's hand, sometimes by itself, but more often joined with the hand of a loved one.

CNS is currently looking for volunteers that can provide hand molds for patients and their families. Each hand mold is done at patients and/or families request and so hours can vary. This would involve visiting a patients home to take the actual mold, and completing the process in your own home, pouring the casting material and creating the final product. You would then package the final gift (hand mold) up and deliver it back to the patient and their family.

*CNS provides all items needed to create a hand mold as well as all the packing supplies.

Mission Statement

We create exceptional moments and experiences that heal individuals and families by providing compassionate care and by putting health, dignity, comfort, and well-being first. We are a non-profit organization, and it is our privilege to serve you and the communities in which we live.

Description

CNS was established in 1928 to provide nursing care for sick people in their homes as an alternative to hospitalization. CNS began as a voluntary non-profit agency, when the existing Visiting Nursing Association of Salt Lake and the Private Duty Registry were combined. In 1930, Salt Lake Community Nursing Services became a participating agency of the Community Chest, later to be known as United Way.

Over the past 90 years Community Nursing Services (CNS), has expanded services and coverage areas to meet the needs of Utahns statewide. As Utah’s oldest nonprofit home health care agency, CNS is committed to providing care regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.
