Wish Granters are an essential part of every child's wish journey. These volunteers meet with wish kids and their families and help children determine a wish. They also work alongside Make-A-Wish staff and wish families to make the wish journey as magical as possible for every kid! This volunteer role requires training on Zoom, as well as an application and cleared background check. We are ALWAYS looking for bilingual volunteers to support our families who speak languages other than English. You must be above the age of 21 to be a Wish Granter. We ask Wish Granters to commit to participating in 5 wishes or more each year, which is about a 2-4 hour/month commitment depending on how involved you choose to be in each wish :)

Mission Statement

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Description

Our Make-A-Wish chapter grants one wish every three days in the Central California region. Volunteers throughout our chapter support our mission work in wish granting, special events, community relations, corporate fundraising, community awareness and other critical areas. Volunteers work in local communities by impacting the lives of Central California children. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. It is important to note that during this time, we have made volunteer orientations and trainings readily available virtually for the health and safety of everyone.

Wish Granter

Wish Granters work in teams of two as a liaison between a wish family and Make-A-Wish. They help determine a child's wish and play an instrumental role in helping to turn the wish into reality. You must be at least 21 years old, complete Wish Granter training, and be able to make two or more visits to the family during the course of the wish process. Wish Visits have recently become available to do virtually as well.
