Are you looking to make an impact in the fight against cancer in the Bay Area, nationally and globally?

The American Cancer Society is actively recruiting new members for the Silicon Valley chapter of the Associate Board of Ambassadors (ABOA). The ABOA is a dynamic group of young professionals (21-40 years old) who seek to network with socially conscious peers (from industries like tech, legal, biotech and finance) and engage in the meaningful work that ACS is executing locally, including our mission to improve access to care and address social determinants of health that relate to cancer.

The ABOA will also assist in planning the signature event for the San Francisco chapter called Fork Cancer.

All members must pledge to the following:

  • Participation in monthly meetings.
  • Participation in group fundraisers and social events.
  • Each member of the group is expected to lead and/or support an ABOA event, special project, or initiative annually.
  • Commitment to fundraising a minimum of $1,000 on behalf of the American Cancer Society by way of peer-to-peer fundraising, fundraising events (i.e. guest bartending etc.), sponsorship procurement, corporate matching program, auction item procurement, or direct donations.
  • Recruit one new member annually - expanding the ABOA’s reach by recruiting additional members to make a greater impact.
In addition to the standard duties and characteristics, members should:
  • Be excited at the opportunity to join the ABOA!
  • Be open minded, have a growth mindset, open to considering diverse viewpoints and committed to our mission.
  • Be honest, transparent and have extremely high integrity.
  • Be interested in making new friends and having fun! For a cause!
ABOA Location: Silicon Valley or willing to travel to Silicon Valley

ABOA term & time commitment: Members of the ABOA serve a 1-year term and will be eligible for re-appointment. Some applicants may also be invited to serve on specific projects or serve in a leadership position.

Compensation: This position is with a non-profit organization which is volunteer in nature and non-compensated.
