ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

Purpose:
his position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department, specifically the Disaster Learning Solutions (DLS) team. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. The Volunteer Newsletter Writer manages and writes the Volunteer Newsletter that is distributed to NHQ DLS volunteers quarterly.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay in tuned with monthly communications calendar themes and explore ideas for potential newsletter stories/features.
  • Research newsletter assignments to ensure accuracy of information, such as stats, historical events and names are factual and up to date.
  • Coordinate and perform interviews with featured indivuals.
  • Draft blog stories within specified deadlines, ensuring final submissions have been proofread and edited.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Experience in writing newsletters
  • Excellent organizational skills to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook and Teams
  • Willingness to comply with current disaster cycle services and Red Cross policies
Length Of Appointment:
1 year commitment with opportunity to renew
