**Recruiting 2023-24 Cohort to Start June, July, or August of 2023! | This is for a full-time position as an AmeriCorps VISTA at a University or College in North Carolina. Full time requires at least 35 hours per week and for the VISTA member to live in the area they are serving. Housing assistance is available at most sites. Hours are set by host site. The NC Afterschool Corps is an AmeriCorps VISTA project sponsored by North Carolina Campus Engagement (NCCE). NCCE is a collaborative network of colleges and universities committed to educating students for civic and social responsibility, partnering with communities for positive change, and strengthening democracy. The Afterschool Corps VISTA will build the capacity of afterschool and expanded learning programs that serve low-income children, while strengthening their connection to local colleges and universities. Afterschool Corps members main duties include working with specific University personnel to recruit and train afterschool volunteers, increase funding and resources for these programs, and expand local awareness of the value of afterschool programming. As an Afterschool Corps member you will be part of a service cohort and one of several volunteers across North Carolina that works with a North Carolina University. Member Duties: As a North Carolina Afterschool Corps member you will have the opportunity to be a part of a service cohort building the capacity of afterschool and expanded learning programs serving low-income children across North Carolina. Corps members may:
• Assess community and organizational needs and identify assets
• Recruit and train volunteers
• Develop systems for volunteer coordination
• Create policies and procedures that increase program effectiveness
• Support citizen and student leadership and participation in service
• Seek new resources through fund-raising and grant-writing
• Facilitate community-based research and co-curricular opportunities that support communities
• Manage programmatic outreach, communications, and marketing
• Coordinate afterschool awareness events and national day of service events
• Promote AmeriCorps, VISTA, and national service
