About Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House
2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602, US
The mission of Hospice of South Georgia is to optimize quality of life and independence through the provision of comprehensive physical, emotional and spiritual services for individuals and their families facing a life-limiting illness.
Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House began in 1987 when a small group of volunteers developed a passion and vision to bring comfort and dignity to life's final journey. These individuals began this endeavor inside a janitor's close in the basement of our local hospice. AS the word of hospice spread through the community, Hospice of South Georgia blossomed to become the first hospice organization with a full staff of employees.
Volunteers are the "heart of hospice!" Without volunteers Hospice of Hospice of South Georgia would not exist. After receiving intensive training, volunteers provide non-medical services to our patients and families. We are looking for volunteers to assist with any number of roles within our organization: Respite care and companionship, running errands, reading/letter writing, tele-caring - calling patients and families by telephone to make sure needs are met, greeting and visiting patients and loved ones at our Langdale Hospice House. Other opportunities available include: grief support, office or clerical help, assistance with special needs, public relations and fundraising and veteran to veteran companionship.
