About Reaching Hands Volunteering

Location:

Mission Statement

We respect and we include our community in all aspects of our operation. This means our business processes and decision making will always revolve around the wants and needs of our community. We are in close contact and dialogue with every person involved in our projects and organisation in order for us to continuously improve and ensure local growth. This relationship is treasured and we prioritise frequent evaluation. Local employment is a pillar of our operation and we believe that a substantial part of local growth is financial growth. This is why we strive to train and employ our peers. All aspects of our operation are run by locals and we believe that this plays a big part in implementing sustainability. It is not only the projects that benefit from our volunteers, it is everyone working for and partnering with our organisation.

Description

Reaching Hands Volunteering is an organisation that will lead and guide you through your next volunteering adventure in Cape Town, South Africa. The organisation is founded by two close friends with a shared passion of reaching out to people and empower communities to unleash the great potential within!

We operate in Cape Town, South Africa. More specifically in Vrygrond - a township located in the outskirts of Cape Town near the city of Muizenberg. Vrygrond is home to more than 50.000 people and unfortunately healthcare‚ educational and sanitary facilities are still in short supply. We have created various different volunteering projects across Cape Town that are all based on the values of empowering the community and sustaining local financial growth. We believe in tailor making every volunteer experience, for you as a volunteer but especially, and most importantly, for the projects and the local people involved. As a volunteer you will be accommodated at a local host family with years of experience. You will be driven to and from your project by professional drivers every weekday.
There is 24 hour staff support meaning that you will always be able to get in contact with a member of Reaching Hands Volunteering at anytime.
It is an absolute priority for us that you feel safe and valued all the way through your stay with us.
