The 2023 Scholarship Reception will be in the University Center at Xavier University New Orleans. We need help in the following areas. Set up, Teardown, Decorating, Greeters, Registration Table, Auction, ETC.

  • Tear down and set up the reception room on 05/20/2023
  • To inspect all public areas (foyer and assembly areas,) for cleanliness and pleasing appearance
  • Ensuring Scholarship recipients are welcomed
  • Supports a strong commitment to world-class guest service and ensures a pleasant and enjoyable experience for reception and event patrons
  • Ensure meeting rooms/areas are properly set and all necessary equipment is in place
  • Ensure all details are recorded so that an estimate for services and supplies can be produced.
  • Coordinate efforts of decorators, caterers and serving guests to help set up reception
  • Receive materials and supplies from vendors and supplies and ensure that they are properly secured.
  • Provide audio-visual services such as setting up equipment and instructing guests on appropriate use.
  • Set supplies such as pens, pads and information packs on each table, in accordance to instructions provided by the management staff.
  • Ascertain that cleanliness and maintenance of the reception areas during and after each event.
  • Maintaining clean and organized auction area

To promote the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons, their families and friends through support to cope with an adverse society, education to enlighten an ill-informed public, and advocacy to end discrimination and secure equal civil rights. PFLAG New Orleans provides opportunities for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

Description

PFLAG New Orleans is one of the oldest organizations serving the LGBT community in New Orleans. What we do best is provide support to LGBT+ individuals, families, and friends in distress about coming out, acceptance of gender identity, and living in a challenging community. Advocating for LGBT+ rights is a focus, especially in a climate that often places Trans rights in its crosshairs. PFLAG New Orleans also awards dozens of scholarships each year to aspiring local LGBT+ students, assists other organizations and companies with outreach events, and provide sensitivtiy training. Lastly, we are one of the only chapters with a weekly radio show and are regularly featured on podcasts and TV.
