Heroes Read Program:
Why: To foster a love for reading while building a student-mentor relationship. What: Volunteer to read with a WCPSS student 30 minutes a week.
- Read one-on-one with Kindergarten-3rd grade students
- A time for students to have fun with books!
- "Heroes Read" students receive a book to take home each week
- Volunteer training is provided
When: September - May of the current school year
- During school hours
- "Heroes Read" takes place daily (Monday-Friday)
- Time commitment: 30-60 minutes per week (depending on availability)
- Volunteers accepted anytime!

Description
Smith Magnet Elementary is a Pre-K-5th grade Wake County Public School. We are a Dual Immersion (Spanish & Chinese) International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.
Our Mission:
Smith Magnet Elementary staff, students, families, and community members will partner to create rigorous academic learning opportunities for all students while developing effective social-emotional skills in a nurturing and positive environment.
