Marine Turtle Program Assistant

This volunteer position is responsible for assisting the Science and Resource Stewardship Division marine turtle nesting monitoring program at Gulf Islands National Seashore. Responsibilities include identifying sea turtle nesting and non-nesting emergence by species, locating and marking nests, conducting nest excavations to determine hatching and emergence success and documentation of adult and hatchling disorientation. Data entry and use of electronic data collection methods are also required.
Patrols shifts are four hours in length; two days a week. Patrols are to be started at sunrise prior to 6:00 am (approximately at 5:30 am).
