Harness the power of mentorship and become a mentor to a child in our 1 to 1 mentoring program. Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you’ll ever do. You can help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Los Angeles is home to one of the most diverse populations in the country and our Littles-many of whom are referred to as "at-risk" and "high-risk"-face many difficult challenges. Nearly 65% live in single family homes or with non-parental guardians who do not have the time or resources to enjoy or explore educational, cultural or recreational opportunities. This explains why a significant percentage of the children we serve have never swam in the ocean, touched snow, hiked a mountain or set foot on a college campus. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, we serve youth between the ages of 6-17, and welcome all children to apply regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, socioeconomic or citizenship status.
