The Junior Museum Teacher will assist with preschool story time programs at the Whittier Birthplace during the summer. S/he should be available most Tuesdays 9:30-11:30am between June 24th and August 19th, 2025. The Junior Museum Teacher is not expected to commit to all ten weeks (family vacations, paid work shifts, etc. are expected), but should be available during most of the weeks.

The Junior Museum Teacher will have the opportunity to help coordinate the weekly preschool story time program. Tasks include: reading aloud, helping with crafts, leading songs/dances/other activities for the preschoolers, and/or helping to pick our books for upcoming weeks. Junior Museum Teachers should enjoy working with small children.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Whittier Birthplace is to preserve the historic landscape, house, and other buildings as nearly as may be, in the same condition as when John Greenleaf Whittier lived on the farmstead and to provide public access to the property so that the legacy of Whittier’s literary and abolition works may be remembered.

Description
