Do you love history? Here's an opportunity to get up close and personal with the past.
Museum Collection Volunteers will assist with the inventory, cataloging, and care of the museum's artifacts and historic books. Prior museum collections experience is beneficial, but all volunteers will be trained in proper artifact handling techniques and inventory protocol. Collections Volunteers should be detail-oriented. New and interesting discoveries are possible while cataloging collections, but the job is also repetitive and slow.
Physical demands include: hand dexterity and vision/reading. The work will take place inside a 17th century building with 2 steps up into the building and slightly unlevel floorboards.
The Whittier Birthplace is a 17th century farm and home, sharing stories of the 19th century poet and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier for a 21st century community.
