Hello!
We are a non-profit theater providing opportunities at performers of all socio-economic abilities to perform on our stages. One way we provide this is by having our tickets and concessions run by volunteers. Strike Theater is a small black box theater in Northeast Minneapolis. One way we provide this is by having our tickets and concessions run by volunteers. We have shows almost every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening (and some other nights too). You would get to greet theater goers, manage ticket sales, and concessions, meet fun people and get tickets to shows! It's a pretty laid back job, but one we need to function.

You would go through a brief training, be paired with another volunteer for a shift or two, and then you can pick up shifts whenever they work for you.

We are also always looking to grow our support team with people that are interested in learning how to run simple tech (lights and sound), do some maintenance, join us in working on spreadsheets etc. If you are interested please reach out!

About STRIKE THEATER INC

Location:

824 18TH AVE NE, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55418, US

Mission Statement

Strike Theater is dedicated to growing Twin Cities sketch comedy, storytelling, spoken word and improv.

Description

The main purpose of this theater is to build a home for sketch comedy, storytelling, and poetry. These are three communities whose circles probably wouldn't overlap if you Venn Diagrammed that five years ago. However, we've recently seen some folks crossing those boundaries and trying something new. Sketch comedians performing at poetry slams. Storytellers and poets getting into improv and sketch comedy. Berets everywhere (just kidding. just kidding.). It's neat! It's challenging, and out of challenge comes growth.

We're partnering with the SEIU Local 26, and that's tremendous. Why? The members of this union (janitors, security guards, window cleaners, etc.) have incredible stories to tell, and Strike Theater will be a place for them to tell their stories and to let people laugh and cry and scream along with them. It's so much more fun to be in a scene when diverse voices are welcomed and celebrated. It's also something that's sorely needed in this world of divisive politics and the echo-chamber nature of social media.
