We need your help for PurpleStride! The inaugural Youth Ambassador Program offers an opportunity for high school students in the Silicon Valley area to be part of a community-based, transformative initiative to end pancreatic cancer. As part of the Youth Ambassador Program, student ambassadors will learn about pancreatic cancer and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) and connect with survivors and medical professionals in the pancreatic cancer space. Then, the ambassadors will design their own fundraising projects, in whatever form they choose. All projects will have an education/awareness component where ambassadors help teach the public about the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer, and PanCAN’s services. One-day events, school activities, door-to-door fundraising, social media campaigns, athletic showcases - the options for projects are truly endless. Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking are encouraged. Participants can choose to do their fundraising projects independently, or they can invite friends to join their fundraising team. From late February through April 2023, ambassadors will conduct their projects with the goal of raising as much money as possible and educating the public about pancreatic cancer!
But wait...there’s more. Each student team will also be competing with the other teams participating in the inaugural Youth Ambassador Program. Points will be awarded to each team based on a) money raised b) the number of people reached with the 'outreach' component and c) the number of teammates recruited to be a part of their fundraising team. The winner of the competition will receive bragging rights and a prize!

Description
PanCAN was the first organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive way, and for more than two decades, we’ve grown a nationwide movement tackling the disease from all angles.
- Research: We fund transformative research - everything from early detection to innovative new treatment approaches.
- Patient Services: We provide information about treatment options, diet and nutrition, support resources and more, and we can answer all your questions along the way.
- Advocacy: We work with thousands of grassroots advocates to urge Congress to increase federal research funding for pancreatic cancer, and we get results.
- Community: Be part of our movement! You can volunteer locally, participate in a PurpleStride community event or host your own fundraiser.
