Mission Statement

Our mission is to work in partnership with communities to help homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life for the underserved..

Description

As a public servant, Alicia Simmons spent the last fifteen years helping homeless families transition into permanent housing and successfully opened several new family shelters for other nonprofit organizations. Despite all the efforts to help the homeless population in New York City, more work needs to be done. Alicia quickly realized, there is another way to help our homeless population. That is when she set out to start Homeless Remedies, Inc. to help combat this social issue. The organization’s goal is to help homeless families gain permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency through a holistic assessment, social service, and employment approach. We will accomplish this goal primarily through job readiness trainings and linkages with employers in the community. And we will continue to help the unsheltered population. Thus far, we have provided over one-thousand nutritional meals, provided over 120 pairs of sneakers and 100 coats. We currently provide clothes to the Asylum Seekers that are currently residing in New York City shelter system. Our goal is to increase our funding to help the homeless population and the underserved with tools that will lead to career paths and assist with permanent housing.
