Take a visit to Cedar Bluffs this spring for a Weed Wrangle! Assist Land Steward Peter Bauson with the removal of garlic mustard and lesser celandine poppy from the property. Volunteers will be taught about invasive plants, how to identify the focus species, and how to remove them. Invasive plants outcompete our native wildflowers and reduce habitat and food sources for wildlife. Removing invasives allows forests to regenerate ecosystems that benefit native pollinators, insects, birds, and more. The terrain here is moderate to challenging, and after the work is done, Peter will guide those interested to the top of the bluff.

No experience needed, any age welcome! Come prepared with good walking shoes and ready to walk over uneven terrain and do moderate physical activity including bending.

Please RSVP for the day here: Spring Cedar Bluffs Weed Wrangle.

Note: this event is at 10am eastern.

Mission Statement

To preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

Description

The Nature Conservancy in Indiana's Indianapolis office exists to support our field offices performing on-the-ground conservation across the state. There are six field offices spanning four ecoregions, and our chapter has between 40-70 employees, depending on the season. The Indianapolis office houses our finance, philanthropy, human resources, government relations, land protection and science/stewardship departments. Working together, The Nature Conservancy in Indiana identifies unique ecosystems and threats to those ecosystems by acquiring lands, mitigating threats, and restoring historical landscapes to a more natural state.
