Assist Land Steward Ryan Goetz with the removal of garlic mustard from the property. Volunteers will be taught about invasive plants, how to identify the focus species, and how to remove them. Invasive plants outcompete our native wildflowers and reduce habitat and food sources for wildlife. Removing invasives allows forests to regenerate ecosystems that benefit native pollinators, insects, birds, and more. The terrain here is moderate to challenging, and after the work is done, Ryan will take volunteers on a guided walk of the 2.9 mile trail.

No experience needed, and any age is welcome! Come prepared with good walking shoes and ready to hike over uneven terrain and do some moderate physical activity including bending.

Please RSVP here: Spring Weed Wrangle at Mosquito Creek

Mission Statement

To preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

Description

The Nature Conservancy in Indiana's Indianapolis office exists to support our field offices performing on-the-ground conservation across the state. There are six field offices spanning four ecoregions, and our chapter has between 40-70 employees, depending on the season. The Indianapolis office houses our finance, philanthropy, human resources, government relations, land protection and science/stewardship departments. Working together, The Nature Conservancy in Indiana identifies unique ecosystems and threats to those ecosystems by acquiring lands, mitigating threats, and restoring historical landscapes to a more natural state.
