Connect occasionally with your older neighbors by getting together for shared activities or outings, helping with projects, tasks errands and more by volunteering for DOROT's Response Team.

Volunteering for the Response Team offers lots of flexibility. You will receive notifications about opportunities and choose those that are convenient for your schedule.

Opportunities typically include going on walks in the neighborhood, outings to museums or shows, help at home with activities like organizing paperwork or closet, visiting to provide companionship, play a game, or teach or practice a skill. There are also opportunities to run errands, like mailing packages, picking up library books, dropping off laundry, and more!

Birthday celebrations are also an important Response Team activity. Response Team volunteers can sign up to call older adults on their birthdays and/or to visit and deliver a small gift, cake, and card (provided by DOROT) to older adults on or near their birthdays. Many do not have anyone else to celebrate with and find these celebrations especially meaningful.

Volunteers must be age 18+. Response Team supports older adults in Westchester. Opportunities are available throughout the northern, central and southern communities in the county.

To get started, please get in touch with the DOROT Westchester office at infowestchester@dorotusa.org or (914) 485-8354.
