The Palm Desert Library has a fun volunteer opportunity as a Family Storytime Assistant, who can be consistently available on either Tuesdays or Thursdays.The Thursday Family Storytime takes place from 10:15am to 11:45pm. This lively Thursday event includes stories, songs, and even a dog that kids may read to and pet. Thursday Storytime also includes a simple children's craft. The Tuesday Family Storytime has the same activities as Thursday, but is followed by Sensory Storytime, which encourages children to move and interact with the environment through music, reading, and other fun activities. The two combined Tuesday events go from 10:15am to 12:15pm,
Duties may include assisting with set up and clean up before and after the program, including possibly moving chairs, small tables, or other furnishings as directed by the children's librarian, gathering supplies, preparing crafts, or helping in other ways as directed, having fun, and smiling a lot. The volunteer Storytime Assistant will report directly to the Children's Librarian.
No skills necessary, but must be dependable, be able to easily navigate around children who are often sitting on the floor, be upbeat with a friendly demeanor, and love working with children and their parents.
