Palm Desert Library two has fun volunteer opportunities for Family Storytime Assistants to choose from on either Tuesdays or Thursdays, or both. Family Storytime takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:15am - 11:45pm. This lively Tuesday and Thursday event includes stories, songs, and a dog that kids may read to and pet. Storytime is followed by a simple children's craft. On Tuesdays, Family Storytime is followed by Sensory Storytime from 11:40-12:15, and encourages children to move and interact with the environment through music, reading, and other fun activities.
Duties may include assisting with set up and clean up before and after the program, including helping with moving chairs, small tables, or other furnishings as directed by the children's librarian, gathering supplies, preparing crafts, or helping in other ways as directed, having fun, and smiling a lot. The volunteer Storytime Assistant will report directly to the Children's Librarian.
No skills necessary, but must be dependable, be able to easily navigate around children who are often sitting on the floor, be upbeat with a friendly demeanor, and love working with children and their parents.
