JSC Corps Member Position Title at Org: SECU Family House

Operations Corps Member Brief Position Description: The JSC Corps member will spend about half of their time assisting House Managers in checking in and out residents, inputting referrals, talking with patients, families, and hospital staff on the phone. Serving as a management presence in the Pine building and resolving guest issues under the direction of the House Manager. The additional half of the time will be direct involvement with the Volunteer Services Manager becoming familiar with the various volunteer roles and playing an integral role in the search for volunteer community partners throughout the Triangle.

How Position Furthers Organization’s Mission: A JSC Corps member allows Family House to promote our mission of outreach in the community but also to provide safe and affordable housing. The better we know our guests the better we can serve their needs at Family House.

Johnson Service Corps is a diverse, ecumenical community of young adults ages 21 to 28 dedicated to service and justice in Chapel Hill and Durham, NC. The year starts mid-August and goes through June; it is steeped in volunteer service, professional development, vocational discernment, justice training, intentional community living, and spiritual formation. You volunteer 32 hours a week at various nonprofit organizations throughout the Triangle area. In addition, we provide housing, a shared grocery budget, group counseling, spiritual retreats, health insurance, mentorship, a monthly stipend ($500/a month), and a completion bonus ($1000 at the end of the program year).
