JSC Corps Member Position Title at Org: Center for Responsible Lending
Special Projects Fellow Brief Position Description: The Special Projects Fellow will be supervised by the Assistant to the Chief of Staff, who will oversee their placement with CRL’s functional teams throughout the service year. During each placement, the corps member will work directly with CRL team members on tasks and projects that address consumer rights issues CRL focuses on. Through this model, the corps member will experience the various strategies that can be used to effectively advance policy.
How Position Furthers Organization’s Mission: The corps member will support all of CRL’s teams throughout the service year, providing much-needed support to advance CRL’s policy positions which will ultimately lead to our vision of a fair and inclusive financial marketplace.
Johnson Service Corps is a diverse, ecumenical community of young adults ages 21 to 28 dedicated to service and justice in Chapel Hill and Durham, NC. The year starts mid-August and goes through June; it is steeped in volunteer service, professional development, vocational discernment, justice training, intentional community living, and spiritual formation. You volunteer 32 hours a week at various nonprofit organizations throughout the Triangle area. In addition, we provide housing, a shared grocery budget, group counseling, spiritual retreats, health insurance, mentorship, a monthly stipend ($500/a month), and a completion bonus ($1000 at the end of the program year).
