Recruiting Organization: Washtenaw Literacy
As a tutor, you would be supporting adults in the Washtenaw County community to improve their reading, writing, math, and English as a second language skills. This can include working on basic literacy skills, such as learning the alphabet and basic grammar, as well as more advanced skills, such as reading comprehension and writing essays. Tutoring can take place in a variety of settings, such as libraries, community centers, adult education centers, and also online.
The job duties of a Tutor may include:
- Planning tutoring sessions that are tailored to the needs of individual learners or small groups
- Identifying areas of difficulty for learners and developing strategies to support them
- Assessing learners’ progress and providing regular feedback on their performance
- Using a variety of tutoring materials and techniques, such as textbooks, multimedia resources, and conversation exercises
