Mission Statement

Dreamcatcher Initiative Inc. recognizes the often overlooked potential of underserved young people. To address this, we provide our youth with programs and support to build their confidence and skills, increase their sense of self-worth, foster hope for the future, and broaden their knowledge of available opportunities. Our work aims to improve outcomes for historically oppressed communities, reduces violence, and empowers a generation of vibrant leaders.

Description

Our primary programs:
- DreamCutz is a program that provides vocational barbering training to justice system-involved young men, designed to reduce recidivism by promoting entrepreneurship. As a part of this program, these young men will also participate in our men’s group.
- Men's Group is a series of workshops in which young men develop and practice skills designed to promote their social and emotional development. During our time together, these young men build interpersonal skills through mentorship, workshops, and discussions of self-knowledge and self-improvement.
- E-Dreamers provides participants with foundational business skills focusing on building out business concepts and knowledge so they can explore what it is to own their own business. The program realistically assesses the challenges facing participants with a history of criminal involvement and encourages them to imagine the financial and personal freedom of being a successful sole proprietor.
- POWER (Preparing Our Women for Everyday Readiness) is a series of workshops that help young women learn skills designed to help them achieve personal and financial freedom. Participants will leave the program with an arsenal of practical life skills, increased confidence, and a broadened knowledge of opportunities.
