ORGANIZATION: Enhabit Hospice

At the very start of hospice in the 1940’s, it was solely founded with volunteers. While hospices now have paid staff, volunteers continue to be an important part of tailoring wholistic care to patients. Our patients are at the end of their lives, and they have many different kinds of needs that volunteers can help with in very meaningful ways.

Do you have good handwriting? We need people who can write kind and encouraging words to patients! Our card ministry volunteer opportunity is an important one and reminds our patients, between visits that we care about them. This opportunity can be done from home. Hospice card ministry is great for our junior volunteers (ages 14-18), college students, and ANYONE who has kind words to share to our patients when they need it most.

Mission Statement

Our team of skilled home health and hospice clinicians is committed to delivering a better way to care for our patients and their loved ones. Through advanced technology, enhanced clinical collaboration and superior patient-focused care, we’re helping patients achieve their specific goals -- at home, where it matters most. One of the ways we are able to provide such comprehensive care is through our hospice volunteers. Volunteers are required by Medicare to be part of the hospice care team with the goal of offering specialized skills and support outside of the clinical team. Volunteers ensure that the patient and family’s needs are met through companionship, assisting with everyday tasks and providing respite time to a patient’s caregivers.

Description

As one of the nation’s largest hospice providers, Enhabit is focused on providing dignity and comfort to patients at the end of life. Hospice is more than just symptom and pain management; it is a philosophy of care designed to treat every physical, spiritual and emotional need of a patient and their loved ones.
