The San Bernardino National Forest is seeking qualified volunteers to serve as day-use area hosts for a six (6) month term agreement. This position could become year around if both parties agree. Duties include light maintenance and cleaning of picnic and fishing areas and answering visitor questions. Selectees will receive a campsite with amenities that include potable water, electricity, sewer (holding tank), dumpster trash service, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Cell phone coverage is quite good at this location
Day Use Area information - Lake Hemet offers plenty of shoreline fishing to the angler, as well as picnicking and light hiking. This site is ADA accessible with picnic tables and shade structures, barbeque stands, and vault toilets. Marina facilities and overnight camping is available at the adjacent Lake Hemet Campground operated by the Lake Hemet Municipal Water District. Boats require an aquatic invasive species inspection prior to launch. Amenities include dumpsters, picnic tables, and fire rings. Within 10 miles is two grocery stores, laundry, a movie theater, ATV/OHV trails, boating opportunities, rock climbing, hiking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, a nature center, and picnic areas.
Fishing: Small panfish, bass, and rainbow trout are commonly caught from shore and by boat. Trout are stocked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
