Visitor centers bring great value to their towns. Most visitor centers are run by volunteers who contribute their time, knowledge, and helpful information to those visiting the region or area.
When you walk inside the Anacortes Visitor Information Center, you will see brochures from the floor to the ceiling of trail maps, restaurant menus, lists of retail shops, ferry information, and more. You will be greeted by a friendly volunteer who is happy to share their knowledge about this town. This customized service will surely give you the most enjoyable stay or a day trip to Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. And for those looking to help themselves, we have a self-serve kiosk!
Not only do the volunteers cover the foundations of the maps, restroom guidance, and fun facts, but you will get to engage with living icons of the area! Our longest serving volunteer and Team Lead, Kay Dow, has been helping the residents and visitors to the city since the ’80s. As Kay puts it, "It’s very rewarding to be around people that are happy and who also love supporting this amazing community."
We hope you stop to meet these wonderful people and learn more about the town you live in. Please recommend to your friends and family visiting that they also pop in.
Have you ever considered becoming a volunteer for the Visitor Center yourself? If you know anyone who might be a good fit, please reach out to James Price, Operations Director, at the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce ( james@anacortes.org). We are always excited to welcome more volunteers to the team.

Description
Did you know that Anacortes has the BEST Visitor Information Center in the entire United States?!
Okay, it is our opinion, but we think it is true. There is no official ranking for Visitors Centers... but it would surely be at the top if there was one!
