Shakespeare & Company, a highly-respected theater company in Lenox, MA in the heart of the Berkshires, seeks volunteers to help build the Company's archive of materials relating to its history as a premier performing arts organization.
A variety of tasks are available including scanning newspaper articles, viewing and cataloging video tapes, oral history interviews and research, and editing transcriptions. Many tasks involve computer skills including a good comfort level with Microsoft Word and Excel, using speech-to-text software, and uploading material to a database. Volunteers can do much of this work from home and, in the case of some projects, do not necessarily have to be physically in the Berkshires.
For every four hours of work, volunteers will earn a voucher toward a free ticket to a Shakespeare & Company performance.More opportunities with Shakespeare & Volunteer Company

Description
Shakespeare & Company, a highly-respected theater company in Lenox, MA in the heart of the Berkshires, seeks volunteers during its May-October season. Opportunities include ushering, gift shop sales, company events, gardening, baking, marketing support, and our Oral History/Archiving project. Volunteers earn vouchers for free tickets to company performances and work alongside a terrific group of people. Shakespeare & Company presents a combination of classical and contemporary plays on four stages, with performances running Tuesday - Sunday, both matinees and evenings. Our corps of volunteers make up a self-managed group called Shakespeare & Volunteer Company, with a leadership team made up of volunteers working closely and in concert with theater company staff. Each volunteer job has its own Volunteer Leader who oversees his/her group. This is an ideal opportunity for people who live in the Berkshires full-time, on a seasonal basis, or for just an extended period. Come join us!
