No matter what your skills or special talents, or if you'd like to learn something new, there is a
volunteer opportunity to suit your interests and your physical abilities. We always need bilingual volunteers.

  • Backroom - volunteers accept donations of clothing and household items. The clothing donations are then organized and sorted by department (children’s, women’s and men’s). The clothing is then hung up on racks by category.
  • Store - volunteers restock the store with clothing, household goods and toys. Volunteers can also be trained to work with our clients at the registration desks and in our resource office.
  • Office - volunteers work in various administrative positions performing bookkeeping, marketing, grant writing and client scheduling tasks.
  • Childcare - volunteers will provide childcare in our playroom while our clients shop in the store or attend classes in our classroom.
  • At home - options range from presorting and sizing to online help with emails, community events and appointment vetting.

About MOTHERS HELPING MOTHERS INC

Location:

5933 N WASHINGTON BLVD, SARASOTA, FL 34243, US

Mission Statement

Mothers Helping Mothers of Sarasota is committed to supporting families in need by fostering resiliency, self-sufficiency and family stability in our community. We are 100% volunteer-run (no paid positions), and everything from new car seats, pack n plays, clothing, shoes, and housewares is always free to our clients.

Description

For over three decades, our 501(c)(3) not-for-profit has been supporting local families in need by fostering resiliency, self-sufficiency and family stability.

Thanks to generous donors, grant funding, and a volunteer-only staff, we have been able to serve over 4,000 families each year through our storefront, representing an average of 11,000 children annually.

Since 2020, we purchased our building and converted to solar, nearly eliminating our entire overhead. This allows us to redirect nearly 100% of every dollar donated back into our client programs.

MHM works directly with other local charities and agencies. By sharing services, our hope is to work together to lighten the burden for struggling families in our community.
