The New Haven/León Sister City Project supports sustainable development, education and social justice in Nicaragua and Connecticut.
We invite you to consider volunteering if you're interested in:
- Working to build a more just world.
- Learning about international development/ solidarity.
- Grassroots fundraising and nonprofit management.
- Community based education.
- Women’s rights organizing.
- Environmental, sustainable development and public health issues.
Proficient Spanish is needed for Nicaragua involvement.
Particular areas of need include:
Education - Supports improvement of rural education in Nicaragua from preschool to teens.
Public health/Food Security - Work to address food insecurity and public health in rural Nicaragua public health (nutrition, clean cook stoves, trash burning, etc).
Women and Gender Program - support training and organizing women and girls to confront gender violence in Nicaragua.
Climate Change Campaign - Organizing and project/policy development on climate change and sustainable development in New Haven; climate adaptation planning and implementation in Nicaragua.
Fundraising - Learn more about creating and supporting nonprofits, help with grassroots fundraising, events, planning and coordination of events.
Delegations - Organize/lead a delegation. Staff support provided here and in Leon.
