Program Description:
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant program is an IRS initiative designed to support free tax preparation service for eligible taxpayers. VITA services are free, and they are a reliable and trusted source for preparing tax returns. Each filing season, tens of thousands of dedicated VITA volunteers prepare millions of federal and state returns. This service helps: - People who generally make $60k or less - Individuals, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and - Limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

We are looking for volunteers to help guide clients from the VITA program waiting room to the clinic office and correct volunteer tax preparer station. Inevitably, we expect there will be clients attending the clinic who do not have an appointment and clients who do not show up for their appointment. The Usher volunteers will work with the Site Coordinators and schedulers to adjust the daily appointments as needed and maximize efficiency. This volunteer should make clients feel comfortable and welcome.
