Enjoy cultural diversity and experience the different ways in which Tanzanian communities solve social issues with limited resource. Many women and adolescent girls cannot afford safe sanitary pads to use during their menses. As a result they opt for dangerous unhealthy alternatives to get through menstruation and tend to their daily activities. Get to participate in the purchasing of materials used in the making of reusable pads later distributed to girls being raised by single fathers, orphaned in public schools and women in slam areas. Form bonds and connections with the community women through interactive talk sessions on menstrual health & hygiene and sex education.
The Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania is a backdrop of nature and attraction sights that provides a good blend with the cultural experience one can enjoy while volunteering with FEF. Utilize your skills, passion and time in supporting the menstrual kit production project and get to enjoy a peaceful culturally diverse town.
