By playing a part in the success of Alternative Baseball and its impact on teens and adults with disabilities, you are helping us raise awareness for the true capabilities and the attempt to defy negative stigmas. You are helping us in the attempt to create future leaders in our athletes to reach beyond their potential in life! The purpose of volunteering in an Alternative Baseball(r) program is to instill life skills, teamwork skills, and values of character, integrity through lessons learned in the authentic baseball experience to prepare athletes with disabilities for success in life off the baseball diamond. Alternative Baseball was founded by a young man on the autism spectrum who was often denied opportunities from participating in competitive sports growing up. Assistant coaches can help with team practices and games. Please fill out the "Volunteer" form here in order to receive the schedule: https://www.alternativebaseball.org/volunteer

About ALTERNATIVE BASEBALL

Location:

854 LINDSEY LAKE RD, DALLAS, GA 30157, US

Mission Statement

Alternative Baseball’s mission is to provide teens and adults (ages 15+) with disabilities the opportunity to play the traditional game of baseball for social and physical skill enrichment; For all participants to be accepted for who they are, encouraged to be the best they can be, and instilled the confidence needed for them to fulfill their dreams in and outside of the program.

Description

Alternative Baseball Organization provides the authentic baseball experience for teens 15+ and adults with autism and special needs. We're trying to find more volunteers and those who want to coach to bring Alternative Baseball to serve those in their communities...

As many with autism graduate from high school in many areas, services plateau. In a lot of areas, there are no services for those to continue their path toward independence. Realizing the need in most areas, I started this organization to give others on the spectrum/special needs the opportunity to be accepted for who they are and to be encouraged to be the best they can be!

The program follows Major League rules (wood bats, base stealing, dropped third strike, etc.), and is a true typical team experience for others on the autism spectrum and special needs to help develop social skills for later in life. We are looking for coaches and managers to further expand around the Southeastern region to form new area leagues! Any help is appreciated! Thank you for your time!
